The Kirkland Office of Emergency Management is looking for volunteers to help with a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) disaster drill!
CERT members learn to find, rescue, and treat the injuries of disaster survivors. At the end of their training, they put their new skills to the test with a simulated earthquake drill with live 'survivors'.
Volunteers will be put into fake wound makeup if they are comfortable with doing so. They will then spread out and pretend to have been hurt during an earthquake, and will be rescued by CERT participants. This may involve having CERT participants dress the fake wounds and transport or carry 'survivors' to a medical treatment area.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to participate. All minors must have their Volunteer Service Agreement signed by a parent or guardian.
Being a drill volunteer is lots of fun, and you will be helping your community members train for disasters. Lunch and refreshments will be served.
